Artist statement
My work ranges from painting and drawing to installation and my art projects are often intertwined with my own writing which most frequently takes the form of fairy-tales.
My work is often centered around the impossible or the miraculous. I often make work about strange artefacts such as dinosaur fossils or relics of saints or magical objects described in literature or myth - the mythical “Philosopher’s Stone” or Franz Kafka’s “Odradek”. Sometimes the work is centered around strange artefacts that I made up myself – a floating tree that overgrows with a rock instead of blossoming or non-withering stone roses which come into existence as a result of an unorthodox alchemical experiment.
